The 14 most anticipated new family hotels and resorts for 2025


If you’re looking for somewhere new to go in 2025, why not make it somewhere that’s actually new? There will be some incredible new family hotels and resorts opening around the U.S. and Caribbean throughout the year, offering everything from budget-friendly escapes and highly themed stays to high-end getaways with lots of extras.

These are the family hotel and resort openings I’m most excited about for 2025. Whether you’re interested in a beach vacation, theme park trip, or outdoorsy adventure, you’ll almost certainly something to get excited about here, too!

1. Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort

Orlando, Florida

Opening January 21, 2025, and March 25, 2025

These two sister properties at Universal Orlando Resort, co-owned and operated by Loews Hotels & Co., will offer out-of-this-world ways to stay adjacent to the new Universal Epic Universe theme park opening in 2025. Both hotels are home to 750 double-queen guest rooms that sleep up to four guests and feature spaceship-style windows.

The theming at Universal Stella Nova Resort reflects “the infinite vastness of the universe,” while Universal Terra Luna Resort places guests amid yet-to-be-discovered planets. Both properties will have almost 10,000-square-foot pools offering poolside movies and games plus food and beverage options that play into the theme. Plus guests who stay at Stella Nova Resort or Terra Luna Resort get the same perks as guests at other Universal Orlando hotels, including complimentary shuttle bus transportation to the theme parks and Universal CityWalk and early park admission to Universal Volcano Bay and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

2. Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa

The whole family will find lots to love at this high-end hotel opening on South Caicos, the smallest main island in the Caicos archipelago. For young guests, Salterra’s Kids’ Club will offer daily activities that immerse kids in the natural environment around the resort. Grownup guests can connect with nature in a different way at The Spa at Salterra, where treatments and wellness experiences are inspired by the property’s scenic setting and ecosystem.

Nature also provides the color palette for the resort’s 100 guest rooms and suites, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame ocean views. And Salterra is helping to protect the island’s unspoiled beauty by utilizing solar energy, avoiding all single-use plastic, and co-founding the South Caicos Coral Reef Consortium to research, replant, and restore South Caicos coral reefs. Coinciding with the opening of the resort, American Airlines will begin offering direct flights from Miami to South Caicos every Wednesday and Saturday, with connecting flights into Miami from more than 70 cities.

3. Opal Sol

Clearwater Beach, Florida

With its sugary white sand and turquoise Gulf of Mexico waters, Clearwater Beach often shows up on “best beach” lists. The Opal Sol gives families a new way to stay in that prime Florida seaside location, offering 248 studio to three-bedroom suites done up in modern coastal style, all with views of the Gulf.

A trip to Savannah is always a good idea, and The Ann Savannah, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy will serve as a great home base for families, friend groups, and even solo travelers. The apartment-style boutique hotel will offer 157 premium suites, including studios, one- to four-bedroom units, and lofts, with full-sized kitchens, in-room laundry, and pet-friendly living spaces.

Located within the Savannah Historic District and taking design inspiration from its surroundings, The Ann will also include a fitness center and pool. 5. Kimpton Tres Rios

The first all-inclusive resort under the Kimpton name, Kimpton Tres Rios will sit along a white sand beach in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Luxury meets nature at the resort, which serves as a sanctuary for more than 90 animal species and 120 plant species. Within the resort’s grounds, families will be able to stroll ecological trails, explore hidden cenotes, and visit a native plant nursery.

The resort will offer daily activities for children, teens, and adults; nightly entertainment; and ways to stay active that include yoga, aqua aerobics, and beach volleyball. The first U.S. property from the Treehouse Hotels brand, Treehouse Silicon Valley will be located about 15 minutes from San Jose International Airport and right in the middle of California’s techie capital. A 1967 Volkswagen Beetle in the hotel’s Arrival Pavilion will set the playful tone for the property, where pool furniture will be made from salvaged tree trunks and firepits and outdoor games will be found amid the property’s oak, redwood, and fruit trees.

Guest rooms and suites will feature blackout shades, rain showers, artisan-crafted furniture, and quirky-meets-cozy decor just right for hiding away at the end of the day. A brand-new all-inclusive resort located on the shores of Playa Esmeralda, Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton will offer a sophisticated, eco-conscious escape for families. Among the resort’s 500 guest rooms, suites, and bungalows will be options designed with families in mind, including rooms with plunge pools that are well situated for enjoying all the family fun at the property.

That includes amenities like an expansive pool complex with a water park and an appealing stretch of beach where everyone can paddle and play in the water. 8. Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana

The former Jewel Punta Cana property has been completely transformed into the new Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana. Sitting along the shores of Uvero Alto Beach, the all-inclusive resort will be a great option for a multigenerational family vacation (especially with its grand opening rates available through February 28, 2025).

Younger members of the group will appreciate the resort’s new water park, its freeform swimming pool, and programming and activities at Camp Alltra for ages three to 12. 9. Under Canvas Yosemite

Just 10 minutes from the west entrance of Yosemite National Park at Big Oak Flat Information Station, Under Canvas Yosemite will offer a camping-style experience for families who aren’t sure if they really want to rough it. The popular glamping brand’s first California location, the 80-acre property sits amid California black oak and ponderosa pine trees that provide a true outdoorsy vibe, but glamping tents will have private baths and comfy beds to keep indoorsy types happy.

There’s a main lobby tent with a café-style dining spot, and on-site programming will include morning yoga, kids activities, live music, and nightly fires with ingredients for s’mores available. 10. Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel

This 500-room resort will transport guests to an imagined world within the palace of Helios, the Greek god of the sun. Celestial patterns and constellations set the scene, and floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby will overlook Celestial Park at the new Epic Universe theme park. In addition to all the perks offered to Universal Orlando hotel guests, Universal Helios Grand Hotel will have its own dedicated entrance to Epic Universe.

For a special treat, families will be able to book playful How to Train Your Dragon Kids’ Suites that will make the little ones feel like they’re sleeping in the Viking village of Berk. The resort’s 4.25-acre water park will be a highlight for the kids, with thrilling waterslides, a wave pool, a lazy river, a surf simulator, multiple pools, and a water playground.

Located close to Dollywood and the area’s other major attractions, the pet-friendly hotel will offer one- and two-room suites with plenty of space for the whole crew.

Close to George Town (the capital of the Cayman Islands) and an easy drive from Owen Roberts International Airport, Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman Resort & Spa will be well situated for a family vacation on Grand Cayman. The resort will feature 382 guest rooms, suites, and villas, many of which will have ocean views.
